It’s Burger Week here at Wishful Gourmets, where basically we will be focusing on burgers, both going to restaurants and cooking some ourselves, and glad you’ll be going along with us on the journey! So sit back enjoy and pig out!
OUR FIRST STOP:
Slater’s 50/50 Burgers by Design (50% ground bacon, 50% ground beef)
7 Locations: Anaheim Hills, Pasadena, Huntington Beach, Rancho Cucamonga, San Diego, San Marcos, and Dallas TX
We went to the Rancho Cucamonga branch…
This place is bacon-centric. Bacon ketchup, bacon milkshakes, bacon, bacon, bacon. Their patties were super juicy and you can even build your own burger!
Time to build our burger.
And we named it after “J” = The Jon
He chose two types of cheese (American and Cheddar), Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Pickles, Thousand Island, and Overeasy Egg. What a beasty burger!
“A” opted to try to the Porka-cola Sandwich, a Pulled Pork sandwich that is marinated in Coke and served on a brioche bun. It had ColeSlaw, Dill pickles, Bacon-bbq sauce
And then the sides! So many choices! We went with the Onion Rings and French fry mix with BbQ Sauce, Ketchup, and Bacon Ketchup.
Dessert time! Maple Bacon Shake
Bacon and Maple Syrup Ice Cream…adding Bourbon is optional.
This was one wacky shake, very unique and different. Don’t know that we would get it again but definitely glad we tried it!
We would definitely go back here, the meat was super juicy and being able to build our own burger was definitely a plus. And the pulled pork was probably the juiciest one we’ve had in a long time.
