Burger Week Day 5: Cooking a Gordon Ramsay Burger

Today’s Recipe: Gordon Ramsay’s Burger from an episode of Kitchen Nightmares

After having visited and enjoyed delicious burger restaurants we thought it was time to try making our own at home.  Because nothing tastes as good as a homemade burger!

We will be try three kinds out to finish out Burger Week so for our first one we will be featuring Gordon Ramsay’s burger from an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

What you need:

1/4 lb. Ground Beef…we prefer 80-20% as the fattier the ground beef is the juicier it will come out.

A small handful of finely diced red onion

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire

1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1/2 teaspoon Ketchup

About 1/2 of an egg yolk

Salt and pepper to taste

Whatever extra veggies and sauces you would like to add to the burger

There was no specified measurements so we just tried to figure it out ourselves.

Place all ingredients into bowl with meat and mix well together.  We like to wear a glove and use our hands, crushing the beef really well.

Place on grill or fry pan or whatever you prefer and cook on one side until the meat has browned nicely and isn’t falling apart.  Then flip it over and cook the other side.  Some burger chefs recommend making a well in the center as the sides seem to cook faster so if you notice your burgers tend to do that then please be sure to make that well.

If you prefer your bread toasted then be sure to do that as well.

Cook to your preferred level of doneness and if you want cheese be sure to place it on top.  We used medium cheddar.

Place meat on bread, veggies of choice (we used lettuce, tomatoes, onions), and sauce of choice (we used mayo).  Pile together and take a huge bite!  Enjoy the tanginess and juiciness of the burger patty, you can definitely taste the dijon and Worcestershire in there.

Happy Eating!
